September 14, 2008: Ground Breaking Birthday Party
Happy Birthday Ronald McDonald House We turn 24 today and we break ground on our new addition!

October 6-7, 2008: Team Dell Bags the RMH Luminary Project!
Dell volunteers are at it again! Teams of Dell volunteers support the RMH Luminary Project by assembling bags for over 15,000 luminary kits.

November 1, 2008-April 15, 2009: H&R Block Referral Days
When new clients mention the Ronald McDonald House, H&R Block contributes $25 to the House.

November 10-20, 2008: $1 Give a Hand promotion at McDonald's in support of World Children's Day.

November 20, 2008: World Children's Day
Celebrate children around the world with McDonald's!

December 1-31, 2008: Control The Show
Log onto controltheshow.com and take control! You are in charge the Christmas lights on-line. Controltheshow.com is donating proceeds from this project to RMH.

December 1-7, 2008: Luminary Distribution
This week luminaries are available for distribution to neighborhood and street captains at the Habitat for Humanity warehouse.

  • Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Sunday from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Individuals can purchase luminaries at our House or one of our retail locations beginning November 28. See the Frequently Asked Questions for more information about luminaries.

December 24, 2008: Light A Luminary
Our community will glow with candlelight as neighbors place luminaries in front of their houses to support the families that stay at the Ronald McDonald House. The rain date will be December 25, then December 31.

February 7, 2009: A Cappella Jam for Hope
Attend this annual event at the R.J. Reynolds Memorial Auditorium. A cappella groups from colleges in North Carolina and Virginia will perform. Tickets are $5.00 each and can be purchased at the door.

Proceeds from A Cappella Jam for Hope will benefit the Winston-Salem Ronald McDonald House.

March 21, 2009: Spring Fling
Join us for our annual cleaning day. We supply breakfast, lunch, cleaning supplies, and a good feeling - all you have to do is show up and lend a hand. Your help ensures we have a clean, comfortable place for families to rest. Contact the House if you or your group would like to participate.

April 4, 2009: Ronald McDonald House Day at Liberty Tax Service
Free tax preparation from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm with a donation to the Ronald McDonald House! Available at all North Carolina locations!

April 17, 2009: Sport A Shirt, Share A Night tee shirt pick up
Come by the House to pick up your Sport a Shirt, Share a Night tee shirts. Tours and refreshments await you! We will be distributing shirts between 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Can't make it on April 17, please call (336) 723-0228 x19 to schedule a time convenient for you.

April 24, 2009: Sport A Shirt, Share A Night
Join individuals and groups across the state to support the Ronald McDonald Houses of North Carolina by purchasing a t-shirt for $10.00 and wearing it on April 24.

June 20, 2009: Heart of Carolina Street Rodders Rod Run
The charity rod run is held annually. Beginning at 8:00 am, the show features American cars and trucks that are 1972 and older. Held at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC, the show displays nearly 200 street rods and muscle cars of all makes and models.

The 3:00 pm awards ceremony includes a presentation award given by the Ronald McDonald House, Sponsor Awards, and the presentation of "North Carolina Street Rodder of the Year." There are also 10 Participants' Choice awards given - five for pre-1949 cars and five for later model cars.

In addition to all of the street rod and muscle car eye candy to take in, the Heart of Carolina Street Rodders Charity Rod Run features a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, music, cash drawings, super prizes, and games for all ages. NSRA is also on hand to conduct safety inspections. Ronald McDonald himself makes an appearance from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

Proceeds from the Rod Run benefit the Winston-Salem Ronald McDonald House.
