Family Assistance Program
Our Family Assistance Program provides support, education, and referral
services to our long-term guests. The program helps families adjust
to their children's illnesses by offering services that enrich parenting
and coping skills. Support services are offered through daily visits
with families at the hospital by the Family Support Program Coordinator
and volunteers, informal support groups, relaxation and stress management
sessions, recreational activities for siblings, pet therapy, and Bingo.
Educational resources include one on one training, parenting workshops,
and question and answer sessions with doctors. We also have a Family
Resource Library with books, videos, and other educational materials
including a computer with Internet access.
Family Rooms
Designed to be an adult respite room, the Family Rooms offer “home-like”
settings within the walls of Brenner Children’s Hospital and
inside the Sara Lee Center for Women's Health at Forsyth Medical Center.
Comfortable seating areas, a kitchens stocked with donated foods,
and computers with Internet access are among the amenities provided
in the Family Rooms. These spaces offer an opportunity for parents
to take a break from their child’s bedside.
